Job Description

Position Summary: 

The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) provides clinical mental health services to children, adolescents, and/or adults in accordance with Louisiana licensing laws and ethical guidelines. The LPC completes evaluations, develops individualized treatment plans, provides counseling interventions, maintains accurate documentation, and collaborates with families, healthcare providers, and community resources to support client progress.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Provide individual, family, and/or group counseling using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, psychosocial evaluations, and diagnostic impressions according to DSM-5-TR criteria.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans and measurable clinical goals.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with Louisiana LPC Board requirements, Medicaid/insurance guidelines, and clinic policies.
  • Monitor client progress, adjust interventions, and provide crisis intervention when needed.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethical practice in accordance with the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners and ACA Code of Ethics .
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (e.g., psychiatrists, primary care providers, school personnel, case managers).
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality assurance activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and state privacy regulations.
  • Provide referrals to outside services when clinically appropriate.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Current, active LPC license in the state of Louisiana issued by the LA LPC Board of Examiners.
  • Clear criminal background check per Louisiana state requirements.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong clinical documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while participating in a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working with children, adolescents, or specialized populations (trauma, autism, mood disorders, etc.).
  • Prior outpatient, behavioral health, school-based, or community mental health experience.
  • Familiarity with Louisiana Medicaid documentation standards.
  • Training in evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, Play Therapy, TF-CBT, ACT, etc.).

  • May include telehealth services per Louisiana telehealth regulations.
  • Occasional evening hours may be required based on client needs.
