Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Medication Clinic

Department: Treatment
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Location: Outpatient Medication Management

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our outpatient Medication Clinic team. This role provides high-quality nursing care to individuals receiving medication management services, including those diagnosed with substance use disorders (SUD), co-occurring psychiatric disorders, and other medical conditions.

Experience in community mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment is strongly preferred.

What You’ll Do

Clinical & Medication Management

  • Deliver evidence-based nursing care to individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders.

  • Administer medications accurately and safely (right patient, dose, time, route), documenting in the electronic medication administration record (eMAR).

  • Document client mental health symptoms and substance use patterns.

  • Assist the RN, MD, and/or NP with medical data collection.

  • Monitor medication inventory (stock and client-specific) and report refill needs.

  • Document admissions and required clinical information in the electronic health record.

  • Provide First Aid/CPR/AED as needed.

  • Support a safe and therapeutic clinic environment.

Team & Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in peer review, record review, staff meetings, and required trainings.

  • Assist with precepting and onboarding when appropriate.

  • Maintain professionalism in all consumer interactions.

  • Adhere to organizational policies, CARF standards, and the NC Nurse Practice Act.

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in North Carolina (or Multi-State License) in good standing

  • Completion of an approved LPN program

  • Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience

  • Valid NC or SC driver’s license

  • Strong documentation and computer skills (Microsoft Office & EHR systems)

Preferred:

  • Experience in community mental health

  • Experience in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment

  • Familiarity with 12-Step philosophy and recovery models

  • Experience working with co-occurring psychiatric and medical conditions

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Office-based outpatient clinic setting

  • Moderate noise level
