Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled   Database Engineer   who is passionate about building, optimizing, and maintaining large-scale data platforms. In this role, you will work across the full lifecycle of database systems—from architecture and configuration to performance tuning and operational reliability.

You will join a team of talented engineers in a   fast-paced, agile environment, contributing to the development of an innovative   multi-tenant, cloud-based payments platform. This role is ideal for a motivated self-starter who enjoys solving complex data challenges and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in   SQL Server within Azure PaaS environments   and can provide technical guidance to engineering and product teams to ensure high-performing and secure data solutions. This position reports to the   Data and Analytics Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with a team of database engineers to support   enterprise data initiatives and platform reliability.
  
• Design, develop, and optimize   SQL objects including stored procedures, functions, tables, views, and triggers.
  
• Monitor, tune, and maintain database performance, capacity, and scalability.
  
• Develop long-term strategies to support the   reliability and growth of critical data systems.
  
• Research and implement database solutions aligned with product requirements.
  
• Diagnose and resolve database and infrastructure-related performance issues.
  
• Support environments running   multiple SQL platforms including PostgreSQL.
  
• Manage data lifecycle processes including   migration, replication, user access, backups, and recovery.
  
• Enforce and maintain   data security, retention, and governance policies.
  
• Contribute to cloud-based platform infrastructure across   IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
  
• Collaborate with development teams using   modern source control tools such as GitHub or Bitbucket.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in   Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with MS SQL Server / T-SQL.
  
• 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise database systems in production environments.
  
• 5+ years of experience with Databricks in Azure.
  
• Strong programming experience with   Python and PySpark, working with large-scale financial datasets.
  
• Proven experience building and maintaining   secure, high-performance data processing pipelines.
  
• Excellent   communication and collaboration skills.
  
• Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  
• MUST be a US Citizen
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience designing   complex ETL pipelines across multiple platforms.
  
• Familiarity with   Parquet, Delta Lake, and Medallion data architecture.
  
• Experience with   Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  
• Exposure to   CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as Azure DevOps or TeamCity.
  
• Hands-on experience with   Microsoft Azure cloud services.
  
• Knowledge of   Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or similar analytics tools.
  
• Experience working in   PCI or SOC2 compliant environments.
  
• Familiarity with   AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code.
  
• Prior experience in the   payments or financial services industry.
